Pete White, of Valencia, was inducted into the UPC Circle of Honor on Tuesday by family, friends and colleagues at the United Parcel Service San Fernando Hub in Sylmar for achieving 25 years of safe driving.
The milestone accomplishment was recognized with White’s formal induction into the UPS Circle of Honor. White drives a route in the Valencia Industrial Center.
The breakfast celebration was capped with the presentation to White of a signature leather bomber jacket. Fellow drivers in the Circle of Honor helped White don the brown leather jacket.
“It’s like when the winner of The Masters Golf Tournament gets his green jacket,” said Phillip Thompson, Business Manager UPS Newhall Center.
White also earned the right to wear uniform shirt emblazoned with a “25 Years Safe Driving” patch on the sleeve.
He also received a special reserved parking space in the employee parking lot, a pin with three diamonds to commemorate the occasion and a paid day off.

“I’m just a regular guy,” White said. “I’m a little overwhelmed. It’s nice that the company would do all of this for me.”
White said he attributes his safe driving record to luck and “paying attention.”
“When I first started was nice and calm driving in Santa Clarita, but now there are a lot more people and more traffic,” he said. “You really have to pay attention when you drive and avoid all distractions.”
White said he doesn’t even have cell phone because it would be a distraction.
The induction ceremony concluded with White cutting a special Circle of Honor cake.
