Nola Aronson’s Advanced Audiology has given more than 940 free hearing screenings so far this year, bringing them almost halfway to their goal of giving 2,018 screenings in the year 2018.

“What we do for the community is we give free hearing screenings so that people can be aware and educated about their hearing, because it’s so important for communication,” Aronson said.

After giving about 1,500 free hearing screenings last year, Aronson and her team decided to increase their goal this year to help even more people.

When someone comes in for a free hearing screening, Aronson noted that her staff also offers one to the family member or significant other who is accompanying them.

“People are actually very surprised when we do the baseline that either their hearing is fine and now they know and know what to look for, or they do have a hearing loss,” Aronson said.

“This is what we do at Advanced Audiology, is we love to educate people,” Aronson continued. “Just because you come in our door does not mean we’re going to try to sell you a hearing aid. I hate that word, ‘sell’ you, because we have solutions to your hearing needs.”

Since she first started offering these free hearing screenings to the Santa Clarita community, Aronson has not only provided solutions to countless people with hearing losses they didn’t realize they had, but she has even been able to identify several acoustic tumors.

“You shouldn’t go without,” Aronson said. “If you make it free, people should take advantage of it, and you have nothing to lose.”
