Every month, Santa Clarita audiologist Nola Aronson donates 10 percent of proceeds from hearing aid sales to a different nonprofit organization in Santa Clarita, and the month of September is dedicated to Youth for Dance.

“We not only help you hear better, but we help you help your community,” Aronson said, noting Advanced Audiology most recently focused donations on Circle of Hope. “We’ve donated to a new organization called Youth for Dance and … by donating to them, I am going to be able to give 15 children from the Boys & Girls Club free dance lessons.”

In addition, Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley has a group of teenaged girls in their “Go Girls” program that will also receive free dance lessons courtesy of Advanced Audiology.

“It’s not just about dancing, but it’s about feeling better about yourself,” Aronson said. “A lot of our education in the schools and stuff has taken away these extracurricular activities. This will allow children to have these activities again and do what they like to do.”

For those on the fence about having their hearing checked, Aronson noted that Advanced Audiology is offering free hearing screenings as part of their 30-year anniversary in Santa Clarita.

“We had a goal this year of 1,500 free hearing screenings for the community,” she said. “We recommend anybody age 50 and over to at least get a baseline, just like you do for your other health issues … so as you get older you can know where it started from.”

Aronson continued, “Remember, hearing is what connects you to life. Without your hearing, you can’t communicate with people. As Helen Keller said, “Hearing connects you to people.’”
