Comfort Keepers Home Care Santa Clarita President Myles McNamara is talking about a shocking statistic that about one third of the senior population over age 65 falls every year, and that number goes up to over 50 percent with seniors age 80 and up.

McNamara called slips and falls the biggest danger for seniors, noting that the bathroom is the primary “danger spot” because it’s where they are trying to get in and out of the shower.
“A lot of times when our seniors break a hip or something, that’s unfortunately the beginning of the end, so to speak, because it’s really hard to recover if you’re in your 70s, your 80s,” McNamara said. “But that’s what Comfort Keepers does is, we try to be proactive and prevent that.”
