Runner Wins Senate Race With 65 Percent Of Vote

Sharon Runner will be packing her bags and heading north for a swearing-in Friday as the successor to her husband, George’s 17th District seat in the California Senate.

With all of the precincts in, Runner has 40,251 votes, or 65.6 percent of the vote; her opponent Darren W. Parker has 21,096 votes, or 34.4 percent of the vote.

 

A total of 289 precincts had open polls for 334,379 registered voters.

A special election was held to fill the 17th District Seat, vacated when George Runner was elected to the state Board of Equalization. The term for that office runs out December 2, 2012.
