Rongstad was transported to the hospital in critical condition immediately following the single-vehicle collision, which occurred late Monday evening on Bouquet Canyon Road and Centurion Way in Santa Clarita.

The passenger in the vehicle, Tyler Hartman, 22, of Newbury Park, was killed in the high-speed collision after the vehicle collided with several trees and a traffic signal pole.

Attendees shared stories and pictures — the sound of laughter filling the field at times — and Hartman’s parents and several of his friends spoke before the group.

“That’s been the best part of the day, seeing how many people love him and how many lives he impacted,” said Gary Hartman, Tyler’s father. “He was the most loyal friend that you would ever want, a total jokester, goofball, loyal, hardworking, dedicated. He’d do anything for anybody. He would give his shoes, the shirt off his back… I’m proud of him.”
