The victim, who’s in his 60s, said he was playing Solitaire on the computer last Friday, when he saw two teens riding beach cruisers in the neighborhood.

He said he didn’t think anything of it at first, since it was around 7:20 a.m., and it was still summertime.

“I looked back up and one of them straight across the street from me,” said the victim, who asked not to be identified due to concerns for his safety, “And he’s trying to open the door of (my neighbor’s) truck.”

The victim, now alarmed, grabbed his phone, went outside and tried to “make his presence known,” in hopes that that would scare off the suspected burglars. The victim said he was having difficulty unlocking his phone due to the adrenaline and the speed with which everything happened, he said. He was unable to film the incident.

The homeowner walked down his driveway, and at this point, the assailants were heading toward him before speeding off from the cul-de-sac, and out of sight.

He turned around and walked back into his house, and within a few seconds, he heard pounding at his front door.

The assailants at this point are kicking hard at his door and window, he said, and concerned the suspects were going to break his window, the victim opened his front door and pushed the unwanted visitor off his doorstep.

The teen stepped back and then charged the homeowner, sending him face backward into a stucco wall and then his planter.

The teen and his accomplice then got up and started “raining blows” down on the man, punching and kicking him. (The attackers were described as two white male teens, one 5’10” to 5’11,” “very blonde,” about 18 years old with a muscular build,  no visible tattoos, and he was wearing a dark gray shirt open with light pants. The victim did not get a good look at the second assailant.)

As the attack near the victim’s front door continued, the victim eventually yelled out to his wife, who was in the shower and unaware of the assault going on downstairs, “Call the Sheriff again,” hoping to scare the teens, as the victim had been unable to call the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station yet due to the attack.

The warning appeared to scare the assailants  who abruptly stopped and left, the victim said, allowing him to actually get ahold of deputies.

Deputies were helpful when they arrived on scene, he said, and even found a possible suspect, although the victim was able to confirm it wasn’t one of his assailants.

Detectives do not have an arrest or suspects identified at this point, according to station officials.

Anyone who saw anything during the August 4 incident, which took place near Whites Canyon Road and Stillmore Street, is asked to call the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
