Newhall School District Donates Thanksgiving Dinners To Santa Clarita Families In Need

Newhall School District gave back to the community this holiday season, donating over 41 meals on Friday to ensure that every family in their district could have a Happy Thanksgiving, said officials.

On Friday, the community partnered with the staff of Newhall School District to provide over 41 families with complete Thanksgiving meal kits, including frozen turkeys and assorted fixings.

Staff from throughout the Newhall School District joined with community partners to make the event a reality, with district staff donating nearly half of the meals themselves, according to officials.

The effort was led by Gina Rodriguez, the District Liaison for McKinney Vento and Foster Youth, and social worker Jason Busak. Together, the two organized details such as how best to get meals to their families and how to ensure that there would be enough holiday meals for everyone in need.

“We are passionate about growing our outreach efforts with families and are pleased that through the collaboration and hard work of countless staff members and community partners, we were able to provide Thanksgiving meals to some Newhall School District Families,” said Rodriguez. “We are grateful to Love SCV, Own Your Faith church and Northpark Church, whose generous congregation donations made this possible.”

Rodriguez credited Busak as being the catalyst for the project, stating that “he started this movement for us, and the rest of us ran alongside him.”

The event was organized alongside community members such as Own Your Faith (OYF) Ministries of Stevenson Ranch, led by Phil Allen and Northpark Community Church, whose community outreach is led by Pastor Bob Hudson.

“Our whole team would agree it’s a privilege to serve and partner with the schools. We’ve been blessed so it feels good to be able to bless others,” said Allen. “It was a team effort.”

Susan Christopher, Executive Director of LoveSCV, helped facilitate connections with community partners like Northpark and OYF, according to officials.

“It’s amazing to see what can happen when we all work together for the good of our students,” said Christopher. “It was inspiring to see the love that Newhall staff has for every family in their district. The Newhall USD mission is ‘Empowering EVERY Child EVERY day, and today that really showed.”

Christopher was also credited with sharing her wisdom and previous experience she learned from the Parent Awareness Workshop and Support (PAWS) Center and the Give-A-Turkey events at Golden Valley High last week, said officials.

“When we are willing to look at our needs and then work together to meet those needs, nothing can stop us,” Christopher said.

  2. What a crock of …..
This is the sad state of America and santa clarita. A local school district full of illegal aliens destroying an entire community and they are concerned about how to enable the leaches even more. Disgusting.

  3. Thank you for giving to the families in need no matter what race, color or religion!! God bless you Newhall District and all who helped!

  4. We’re all in need. Are you kidding? We’re living in California. Illegals get the free stuff, we pay thru the nose while trying to eek out a living here. Some of us are stuck here for the time being.

  5. To Ricardo, Adam, Rose and any others who would deny a family a meal at this time of sharing-
Shame on you! You are selfish, small-minded and bigoted. Are you also Christian?
Big thanks though to anyone who cares enough to help others not as fortunate and improve the human condition.

  6. Wow…And a big Yeehaw and ah duh I married my cousin..Yeehaw them Dukes, them Dukes.

  7. To the one’s who have negative things to say about doing Good, I pray for you to ask God to heal your heart & know that for whatever reason it bothers you to not see the Good in someone touching lives no matter who they are, I ask for you to go do volunteer work in a shelter, food line, hand out a sack lunch to the homeless & experience your heart to give Love & experience Love…God Bless you

  8. Point was/is, give things to Americans first, then if there’s excess, give to illegal aliens, who shouldn’t be here in the first place! Illegal aliens already GET free American taxpayer paid public schools with free meals and who knows what else! The free handouts they get as well as sanctuary cities protection only enables more to come with their organized networks! Once they’re here, do they assimilate and improve or do they continue their primitive third world lifestyles/behaviors, bringing down neighborhoods/safety/property values/etc.??!! Happy Thanksgiving! So Happy to be American, respect & live in America!!
