Driving Under The Influence (DUI) incidents are back on the rise in Santa Clarita, in addition to overall arrests.
Between Friday, Aug. 12 through Sunday, Aug. 14, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office made 16 arrests, an increase from last weekend’s 12, according to Santa Clarita weekend arrest logs.
Of the arrests made there were three felony bookings which included burglary with a $20,000 bail, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm with a bail of $50,000, and DUI with prior convictions with a bail of $100,000.
Other arrests that made the log included eight misdemeanor DUI’s, one for shoplifting, one for drugs, and three for battery against a former spouse.
According to booking logs, of the arrests made six had addresses within the Santa Clarita Valley while the other had outside addresses.
