Sunday afternoon, the MLB released the roster for the Midsummer Classic All-Star game, which includes six Dodgers players, one of whom has deep roots in Santa Clarita.
Representing the National League and the Boys in Blue will be shortstop Mookie Betts, first baseman Freddie Freeman, outfielder Teoscar Hernandez, designated hitter Shohei Ohtani, catcher Will Smith and making his All-Star debut, Hart alumni Tyler Glasnow.
“It’s just a big honor,” said Glasnow in an interview with the L.A. Times. “It’s always been a goal of mine to go to the All-Star game.”
Glasnow, the impressive right-hander, has secured his inaugural All-Star nomination following an exceptional first half of the season with the Dodgers.

The former Hart Indian, Glasnow, has made 18 starts and has an impressive record of 8-5. His ERA stands at 3.47 and he currently leads the league with 143 strikeouts in 109 innings. His impressive strikeout rate of 11.81 per nine innings ranks second in the majors and sets a new franchise record, surpassing Clayton Kershaw’s mark from 2015.
While every player hopes to have their time in the game, Hernandez wants to do more than just play in the game but also be a part of the Home Run Derby.
His teammates fully support his efforts in participating in the derby and think he would do a great job.
“He can punish a baseball,” Freeman said. “If he wants to do it, I’ll put all my chips on him.”
Before the All-Star game, they have a series with the Philadelphia Phillies, the only team with more All-Star players (seven).
The series between the Dodgers and Phillies will kick off Tuesday at 3:40 p.m. PST at Citizens Bank Park. Every Dodger game can be listened to on KHTS Radio on FM 98.1 and AM 1220.
