Grand Theft Suspects From Texas Targeting Cash Withdrawals Arrested In Multi-Agency Investigation

Two grand theft suspects from Texas, including one who allegedly stole over $20k in cash last week, were arrested Thursday by deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley.

Deputies with the Special Assignment Team, in partnership with LASD Major Crimes Bureau, arrested two grand theft suspects believed to be part of an organized “jugging” crew responsible for a multi-county theft spree, said Deputy Robert Jensen, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in a social media post.

“Jugging” is when criminals stake out banks or ATMs, follow unsuspecting victims, and steal large amounts of cash, often by breaking into vehicles once the victim has stopped, according to Jensen.

“In this case, suspects followed a victim from a Wells Fargo in Valencia to Saugus and stole $20,000 from his vehicle,” Jensen said. “The same crew is linked to similar crimes in Fontana, Camarillo, and beyond. Thanks to coordinated work with Fontana PD, Camarillo PD, San Bernardino Sheriff dispatch and LASD Major Crimes Bureau, both suspects were identified, located, and arrested by SCV Station deputies.”

Dimarkus Mitchell, 33 from Missouri City Texas and Sharmaine Roberts Wilson, 33 from Houston Texas were transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail and remain in custody for felony grand theft.

“Withdrawing a large amount of cash? Be alert. Check your surroundings. If you think you’re being followed, don’t go home — drive to the nearest Sheriff’s Station and call 911,” Jensen said.

  1. Let’s go back to old school punishment, Cut their hands off.

  2. Now that they have them in jail, they should be charged with every count for every crime they committed. Since they were doing this over and over again, those are each individual crimes. Now make them serve each sentence consecutively. If that keeps them in jail for the rest of their lives, so be it. It was their choice to commit crimes over and over again. And put their sentences on the 6 o’clock news. Criminals beware, its jail time for you.

  3. It annoys me that most the public earns their money and there are always someone who try to get their money through theivery. Hopefully now with a different L. A. County DA these crimes will be taken care of.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
