Santa Clarita is just 30 miles from Downtown Los Angeles and, with the Metrolink train and Santa Clarita Transit buses, it’s easy to get there. Downtown LA, or DTLA, has landmarks like the Los Angeles City Hall and the Bradbury Building, as well as award-winning restaurants and bars, but it’s just so busy that, sometimes, riding the affordable public transport to get there seems like a hassle.
If you don’t feel like venturing out into DTLA or exploring the rest of Santa Clarita, you can have a good time in your own backyard. So, load the WhatsApp group and tell your friends to come over for a fun-filled time of laughs and good entertainment.
Throw a Backyard BBQ
The average summer temperature in Santa Clarita is 95 degrees Fahrenheit in August. Wherever you’re from in the world, that’s thought of as barbeque weather!
Throwing a backyard BBQ can seem like work if you’ve got a huge friend group but Travel Mamas‘ tips can make it a breeze. The site suggests preparing your food before your guests arrive so that no one has to sit around hungry waiting for you to season the meat before you put it on the grill. You can also ask your guests to bring side dishes so that you won’t have to make them yourself or run to the store last minute when you see you’ve forgotten the potato salad!
Host a Casino Night
DTLA has several land-based casinos but most of these have dress codes and they’re likely to be busy. If you’re looking for a laid back evening with friends, where no one cares if you’re wearing a suit and tie or your footie pajamas, then going out to the casino isn’t going to work.
What you can do though, is host your own casino night. You don’t need to set up several tables of traditional casino games like blackjack and poker or order a roulette wheel from Amazon. Ask your friends to bring their mobile phones and laptops and then go on a site like Casino Wings to find an online casino to play at. Online casinos will have offers with free spins and deposit offers and a range of games to choose from, such as slots, which you wouldn’t be able to host in your home.
Have a Bring and Share Night
One of the best things about living in Santa Clarita is that you have access to incredible produce. The Visit Santa Clarita site explains that there are several farmers’ markets in the city, such as the Old Town Newhall Farmers’ Market and the Santa Clarita Farmers’ Market. This is a great reason for you and your friends to test your culinary skills.
Hold a bring-and-share night where each of your friends provides a dish that they’ve made. You’ll get to try new dishes and you won’t have to do the washing up!
Living in Los Angeles means that you have access to great entertainment whenever you leave the house. However, just as much fun can be had on those nights you want to stay in if you think about it hard enough.
