Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – January 13, 2014
On today’s show, Alex and Wendy sit down and talk with Jenner Jose, upper director of SCVi Charter School, about new beginnings and letting go of the past.
The past is just that the past. Yesterday was yesterday, tomorrow never happens, we are always in the now at this moment.
But in todays world a lot of people are having trouble letting go of the past and living in the moment, in the now.
Each moment is a new start, a fresh beginning, Wendy said. Especially with a new year, lots of people start again and have new beginnings, but people often aren’t aware that they can do that everyday.
A great conversation to have with kids is the fail talk, Jenner said. Tell them it is okay to fail and learn from the fail and not dwell on it.
What I like about SCVi Charter is that it allows the kids to learn for themselves, Alex said. It is not traditional where the teacher tells you what to do, the facilitators give the learners a chance to figure it out for themselves.
Every learner is different, Jenner said. Everyone is going to face the same challenges from a different direction and we embrace that and let them approach a new start.
A new beginning is breaking out of that box that society and yourself are put it and not let your past shape who you are.
A lot of people this time of year are consciously saying I am going to change my life, Jenner said. You can always find a new fresh start and a great learning tool for learners.
