Is Growing Cannabis Legal In Santa Clarita?

Lawmakers in California just permitted the legalization of Cannabis delivery anywhere in the state, but cities and counties still have the power to ban the sale of Cannabis; like Santa Clarita. After many confusions regarding legalizing it, some rules were changed and a lot of penalties for minor offenses were removed. Although these rules took action over a year ago, this policy is relatively recent. This means that most of the city residents are still not aware of what exactly changed. Most people don’t know that after the new Cannabis regulations, officially it can be delivered right to their doorstep!

Personal Use & Law

Possession of up to one gram of dried Cannabis or up to 8 grams is now legal for a person 21 years of age or older. It’s forbidden for anyone who’s under 18 years. A lot of people seem to overlook that in some states where Cannabis is only legalized for therapeutic use. However, as long as it’s legal based on some specific required regulations, then all you have to do is to follow the rules! But still, property owners and landlords are still allowed to prohibit the usage of Cannabis in their properties.

Growing Your Own Cannabis

Now the law enables Californians to cultivate up to six plants inside their private residences for personal use. Even though the legislation sets some requirements for homegrown Cannabis, such as prohibiting planting them in some areas like the back or front yard and balconies. Residents are also legally allowed to smoke in their homes or in private closed places since it’s for recreational usage. Also, there are no permits or approvals necessary in order to grow your plants inside your residence, of course, unless substantial changes happen.

If you are interested in growing your own crop, the first thing you should look into is a grow tent and also how to assemble a grow tent as that is the basic key to it all. After some research you’ll realise it’s not a big deal and surprisingly simple.

However what matters the most is that you keep your planting process private. Your neighbors shouldn’t see your plants, especially if you live in an unfamiliar place. Another interesting fact about the rules of growing plants, is that the law states the towns and neighborhoods within your residence that are allowed to grow their own plants; this includes private properties and rentals. This way you can check if you’re on the right side of the law. On a side note if you’re in rental property you should make sure with the landlord you can use their house to grow as although it may be legal they may not let you grow in their property and you could end up in trouble.

Cannabis for Medicinal Usage

All the rules we’ve talked about before don’t really impact individuals, as far as they only grow for personal medical usage and restrict their growing tents to 100 square feet. Besides, caregivers have the privilege to cultivate up to 500 squares for medical use serving five patients. And luckily, they don’t fall under the new rules.

So, it’s clear that patients with doctor’s prescriptions to use Cannabis can cultivate or possess greater amounts than other users. Patients under the age of 21 with prescriptions and medical ID cards usually get discounted sales or they get completely tax-free sales.

Doctors don’t expressly prescribe Cannabis; it’s forbidden by Federal Law. They usually just recommend if the case is appropriate. Patients with chronic pain such as cancer, anorexia, AIDS, etc are more likely to use Cannabis as a painkiller. It’s also used for psychological diseases like severe anxiety, depression, insomnia, and PTSD. Normally, the average  doctor is not allowed to make these kinds of recommendations, it has to be someone who’s specialized with such serious conditions.

Over the past couple of years, the laws on growing cannabis have undergone several adjustments and improvements and they continue to develop. All you have to do is to stay on track with the local news in your state and always be careful to stay out of anything that’s not legal! There are a lot of perks to living in the States, so why not embrace them?
