Planning A Brazil Tour? Here’s What To Expect

Brazil is one of the most popular holiday destinations in South America. Its beaches are white sanded and stretch as far as the eye can see, and its jungles dense and luscious. There are no shortage of activities to do for you and your family in Brazil, and it can be a magical, life changing experience. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s second most populated city, is often called the city that never sleeps, as in Rio de Janeiro, the party never stops. With year-round carnivals, parties, and street festivals, it is one of the most popular destinations in Brazil.

If you are planning a tour of Brazil, here is where you need to go, and what you need to expect.

Take a City Tour

When you are travelling across Brazil alone, it can become very strenuous, especially when you have to maneuver through city streets. Deciding to embark on a series of South America tours can be a lot of fun, and if you have the time and the money, should definitely choose to do this instead of more conventional travelling. There is nothing like a bit of traffic to dampen your holiday, and instead of leasing a rental car and having to struggle to get around, travel in style with a tour bus.

Touring companies, ferry you around Brazil by air and bus, and you will see every single thing you set out to see, rather than becoming side-tracked. It is very important you find respectable and well-reviewed tour guides, and only ever travel with an officially licensed tour guide. In recent years, there has been a spate of kidnappings of foreign tourists all across Brazil, with the kidnappers masquerading as tour guides and taxi drivers. If you are going to travel by taxi, you should ensure that it is a licensed yellow cab, and not an unlicensed private vehicle, as that could mean big trouble for you and your family.

Applying for a Visa

Applying for a visa when entering Brazil is an absolute must. A tourist visa should only cost eighty dollars, and will take just under a week to process, so you should definitely make sure to apply for your visa a week or two before you travel. Your passport also must be valid for six months post-departure date. You can apply for a visa in person at your local Brazilian embassy, or you can do so online. You must declare any criminal convictions, as unfortunately convictions can potentially hinder your chances of travelling to Brazil, and if you travel without disclosing them, they have the right to refuse you entry at customs.

Travelling to Brazil

There are over fifty airports in Brazil, and many docks. Depending on your mode of travel, there will be an entry point for you. One of the most popular methods of travelling to Brazil is backpacking; every year, many people set out from Belize and backpack all the way to Brazil, and sometimes all the way to the very end of the continent. This is a very popular mode of travel, and providing you stick to main roads, quite safe.

Establish Your Budget

Travelling through Brazil is not as expensive as is commonly thought. While staying in five-star hotels, of course, will be, but that is the same anywhere you go. If you stay in reasonable accommodation, you can likely get your hotel for around fifty dollars a night, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. You should be able to travel in Brazil with a very small budget, and the food is not very expensive providing you eat at locally owned restaurants, which will always taste the best anyway. When you are travelling through Brazil it is not recommended to bring large amounts of cash with you, as some areas can be very dangerous for tourists, and you should always keep your money zipped up and in a center pouch to prevent pickpockets from being able to access it.

Create a List of Must-See Sights

Brazil has some wonderful tourist attractions visited by millions every single year. Before you travel to Brazil, you should compile a list of all of the places you wish to visit. If you do not make the proper arrangements to travel to all of the destinations you hope to beforehand, you risk not being able to, as many tourist destinations in Brazil are very busy and highly booked. You should make inquiries beforehand, and if possible, travel off-peak so that you can see the sights without other tourists there to bother you.

Computer, passport, and digital cameras on a map

Now you know what to expect, and how to plan your tour to Brazil. Seeing Brazil is a must-do for everybody who loves travelling. Brazil is unlike any other country in the world, and cannot be missed.
