If there is one thing that the coronavirus lockdown has taught us, it is that we all have hidden talents waiting to be discovered. Now that the virus has forced us to stay at home and be idle, many frustrated chefs have given cooking a chance. You have probably seen all the memes on the Internet showing how many people in quarantine have become worthy of joining the Master Chef. A few months into the quarantine, we’ve rounded up some of the popular recipes that home chefs have whipped up. Here are some of them:

Many of those bored in lockdown have turned to prepare food items that are not only healthy but also savory. Among the meals that have caught the attention of many are Italian dishes. For an easy and hearty meal, you can try your hand at making an Italian salad to impress your family during dinner. 

Homemade Pizza

Pizza is a popular go-to meal for Americans. With many pizza restaurants closed, many cannot get their hands on their favorites. People are putting their ovens to good use by making their own pizzas. Pizzas are easy to prepare since you can buy a ready-to-cook dough, pepperoni, and cheese from the grocery store. And since it is made straight from your kitchen, you can add all the toppings that you want, and yes, you can have all the slices that you want. No one will judge. 

Chocolate Brownies

The stress of the coronavirus pandemic is indeed taking its toll on everyone. If you feel stressed you may have found baking to be an outlet. If you haven’t already, you should try baking chocolate brownies. They are easy to cook and so satisfying to eat. It is okay to indulge once in a while in sweets, especially if you know that it will help lighten your mood. 

Homemade Ice Cream/Gelato

Another popular food item that many  home chefs are now making is homemade ice cream. The increase in dairy sales shows that as most people are experiencing a meltdown, the ice cream industry is raking in all the profits. Due to this, many of those who want to have their daily supply of ice cream turn to make their own. Many homemakers are now experts in making gelatos for their children, particularly now that they are spending more time with them during the lockdown. 

Baked Mac and Cheese

Another kid-friendly and an easy-to-make meal that many are sharing on social media is baked mac and cheese. An all-time classic, homemakers in lockdown are going back to the basics. Some even looked for their grandmother’s recipe to make the best one in town. 

Lasagna Rollups

For those who don’t frequently bake, preparing and cooking lasagna is a challenge. But now that people in quarantine have ample free time, baking lasagna is one that they want to tackle. Many are sharing on their Instagram their version of lasagna rollups, a creative version of the classic lasagna that is easy to eat and enjoy during dinner. 

Cookie Bowls

Another popular food trend during the lockdown period is the cookie bowl. Search #cookiebowl on Instagram, and you’ll surely find tons of delightful pictures of amazing cookie bowls. It is easy to make and perfect for a quick pick-me-upper while you are working from home. 

Now that Los Angeles County has announced the closure of dine-in in restaurants and bars, you can expect to find tons of food discoveries that homemakers will try. Until restaurants reopen like before, stay safe and discover more recipes.
