Treating Yourself To A Day Of Self Care In San Diego

San Diego is one of the most beautiful cities in the United States. It’s also one of the most fun. Like anyone who lives in a bustling metropolitan area, stress can be an issue. Sometimes you need to stop, breathe, and spend some time working on yourself.

If you know that your stress level is too high and maybe it’s causing problems in other ways, you’ll need more than a day. Speaking to a therapist at one of the many amazing treatment centers in SoCal, like Nexus Recovery, can help you. You’ll feel much better after you learn to manage those issues.

For everyone dealing with ordinary stress, you live in the best place to calm down. Sometimes when you grow up somewhere, it’s hard to figure out what to do. So, here are some ideas for activities that’ll keep you entertained on your mental health day!

1. Visit the Seals

When was the last time you went to La Jolla Cove to visit the seals? It’s probably been a while. What better way to spend the day than barking at your friendly beach friends. Okay, maybe you want to leave the barking to them.

Before you go, make sure you aren’t going to an area that’s closed. Children’s Cove isn’t open from December 15 to May 15 because the newly born seal pups need some time without humans bugging them.

2. Take the Trolley to Seaport Village

Seaport Village is a fun place to spend a few hours relaxing. You don’t even have to deal with San Diego’s infamous traffic to get there. Catch the trolley and enjoy the ride.

The village has plenty of shops to buy yourself little gifts at. You can treat yourself to lunch at one of the delicious restaurants. Or you can spend the day sitting along the San Diego Bay and watching the people walk by.

3. Walk Across the Spruce St. Suspension Bridge

When you’re finished at Seaport Village, you could explore the Spruce St. Suspension Bridge. Built in 1912, some people think it’s a hub for paranormal activity. Others just really like the view. Either way, it’s a pretty cool place to visit.

4. Hike Los Penasquitos Canyon Trail

If you’d rather spend your day becoming one with nature, hiking is a great way to do that. Fortunately for you, there are plenty of places to put those hiking boots to good use.

Los Penasquitos Canyon Trail is one of the easiest places to hike. The trail is almost 5 miles long and takes you through the land where Native Americans lived nearly 7,000 years ago. You can even find a waterfall in the canyon!

Pack some lunch, grab plenty of water, and head out for a day of fun.

5. Visit the San Diego Zoo

What? Did you think the zoo was only for little kids? Absolutely not.

If you’re an animal lover, San Diego Zoo is the perfect place to spend your day. The zoo was built in 1916 and is home to more than 3,700 animals.

The zoo sits on 100 acres of land and you can spend the whole day wandering around.

Spend Your Day Like a Tourist

Sometimes it takes seeing your city through different lenses to truly appreciate it. The options above are just five things you can do but there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy too. For instance, you could spend the day at Coronado Island. Well, as long as you’re okay with driving across that bridge. Yikes.

Everyone needs a mental health day once in a while and you’re lucky to live in a city full of activities.
