Online study is growing in popularity, and post-pandemic, it’s not hard to see why. One of the main reasons why individuals opt out of higher education is due to the accessibility of institutions and costs, especially for full-time study. However, with online courses, this doesn’t have to be the case. You can enjoy a world of benefits with distance learning, including studying from the comfort of your own home.

Want to find out more advantages of this type of learning? Check them out below:

1. Work while you study

You no longer have to commit to full-time classroom-based lessons if you want to take a degree course. Online classes mean you can study on your own schedule and fit lessons around your current commitments and workload. What’s more, you can re-watch lectures as many times as you like and catch up if you miss anything. In addition, many degrees, including Online Programs at Point Park, include text and video formats to assist learning.

2. Learn at home or work

The beauty of online study is you can work anywhere you like. There are no on-campus lessons to worry about or traveling miles to classes; you could even be in a different country! While this is a significant benefit, studying somewhere that inspires productivity and motivation is also important. So think about places that help you learn, for example, a library or coffee shop, and watch out for those that distract you, such as sitting in from of the TV.

3. Accessible and inclusive

At traditional universities, there are a variety of criteria to meet to study. However, with an online course, there are fewer barriers to learning. Of course, you still have to meet some basic requirements, including high school diploma level of education and interviews, but there are typically no age limits or limits on what you study. This makes it ideal if you’re looking to change careers or specialisms and want to explore degree courses in your later years.

4. Affordable course options

University is a significant investment however you choose to study. Yet, online courses provide a more affordable approach to learning. In addition, there are options to suit all budgets with payment plans if required. Plus, you won’t need to spend money on other areas of university life such as travel, accommodation, and childcare.

5. Faculty and peer support

Some argue that there is less interaction on online courses. But, in reality, it’s a similar amount but differently. While you’re not physically sitting in a class with everyone, you are live with your peers and lecturer during the course lessons and can ask questions during the sessions. Faculty are generally available to help out of hours too. In addition, you can schedule 1-to-1 slots and group work sessions as and when you need them. Some distance learning and online courses also have on-campus introductions or tests. This is also a chance to meet and catch up with everyone on the course.
