Santa Clarita Gazette Radio Hour – April 3, 2015
Another wacky and wild Gazette Radio Hour with Doug and John on KHTS! Our two hosts talked about the issue of gay discrimination that’s been recurring in the news this week with the Religious Freedom act.
Miss Classified, who very kindly filled in for a last minute cancellation, talked about what she would do if she encountered a rattlesnake (answer: freak out). She said that there’s a lot of opportunities in this week’s Gazette for people who are looking for jobs. There’s also a lady selling a birdcage for $30. There’s also a guy who’s selling 200 LP mint condition Beatle records for $45 and up!
Maria Guitziet, Vice President of the board for the Newhall water district, also stopped by to talk about the recent drought. John asked about the causes – Maria said a combination of factors is contributing to the drought, including the lack of rain contributing to the Sierra Snowpack. However, Maria said that people shouldn’t be worried: we have a lot of outside sources to supply people the water they need, but just having to rely on these sources indicates there’s a problem. Maria has said that the public has responded to the outreach the district instigated.
Having inside knowledge of the water crisis as an authority figure, Maria also talked about the executive order issued by the governor to reduce water usage. Guitziet mentioned solutions to this problem, including water recycling, which allows us to capture rain and recharge our groundwater table
