Tuesday’s scores:

Trinity Classical Academy 3

Golden Valley 2

The Knights (1-1) took down the Grizzlies (1-3) in a budding Santa Clarita Valley non-league rivalry. The five set match brings comparison to last season’s five-setter that Golden Valley prevailed in.

–

Chaminade 3

Canyon 1

The Cowboys (3-1) dropped their first game of the season to a strong Chaminade team, and has a quick turnaround with a match tonight against Palmdale Aerospace Academy at 5:30.

–

West Ranch 0

Westlake 3

West Ranch (1-3) pushed Westlake in a tight first game (26-24), but ultimately didn’t have enough to compete over a full series. Westlake is 8-0 this season.

–

Newbury Park 0

Saugus 3

Caitlin Liebe led the way for the Centurions with 13 kills to give her 81 on the season (5.1 kills per set) as Saugus swept Newbury Park at home.

–

Stockdale 3

Hart 2

Hart won the first and fourth games, but couldn’t keep the momentum going through the final set, falling to Stockdale.

–

Valencia 0

Flintridge Sacred Heart

–

Santa Clarita Christian 3

Desert Christian 1

The Cardinals (3-1) were +32 in their three sets won, making the 25-20 loss in game three a little weird.

CIF-SS football polls for Week Two:

Division 2

No. 1 Valencia (1-0)

Division 6

No. 2 Golden Valley (2-0)

No. 3 Saugus (1-1)

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers and D-Backs are going opposite directions at the moment. LA’s 3-1 loss to Arizona in the 10th inning Tuesday night made it ten losses in eleven games, and gave Arizona its 12th consecutive win. If the D-Backs are able to sweep the Dodgers with a win tonight, they’ll set a franchise record for wins in a row.

While the Dodgers are still 11.5 games ahead of the Diamondbacks in the NL West standings, there are 24 games remaining in the regular season and the urgency to right the ship heading to the postseason is growing.

LA looks to avoid a second sweep in a row against Arizona tonight at 7:10.
