“Rachelle Dardeau, M.S., M.S.W. is the Executive Director of the Santa Clarita Valley Committee on Aging, Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center. The mission of the SCV Senior Center is to promote quality of life for seniors. Services included are Nutritional Services, Licensed Adult Day Care Program specializing in services with dementia, Transportation Services, Handyworker Services, Support Services, Lifelong Learning, Exercise, & Recreation. Each year the SCV Senior Center provides programs and services to over 10,000 seniors in the Santa Clarita Valley and over 35,000 individuals who are caring for aging loved ones. Volunteers and staff deliver an average of 80,000 meals annually, and over 50,000 meals are served at three congregate sites. A multi-generational volunteer force donates over 45,000 hours annually to the SCV Senior Center.”

Today on the Senior Hour we have two prominent women to discuss the latest happenings at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Resource Center. Rachelle and Robyn inform listeners on everything from the adult day program to promoting the big Senior Center fundraiser coming up in February. Saturday, February 27, the Senior Center is hosting the annual Celebrity Waiter event at the Hyatt hotel in Valencia. Tables are themed, and volunteers work in conjunction with the Hyatt staff to provide a fun-filled night of games and engagement.

“It’s an opportunity to meet people … and it is a highlight of many people’s day.” – Robyn

“If you can stay active and intellectually stimulated it may slow down dementia.” – Rachelle Dardeau
