SCV Sheriff Talk on AM-1220 KHTS!

Santa Clarita Sheriff’s speak about working with at risk teens and their parents with the VIDA program, as well as what is is like on the streets as a peace officer on the Fourth of July.

“Established in February 2006 in the City of Santa Clarita, Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives (VIDA), is an intensive 16-week program designed to assist “at-risk” teens, between the ages of 12 and 17.

In providing the program, the City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station recognize the importance of offering counseling, family action, community service, physical training, team building, and career guidance to wayward youth in our community. All this is done in an effort to help redirect negative behavior of our youth, who may be tempted to explore gang affiliation, drug use, or crime.” From scvsheriff.com/vida/

About Justin Powell

Justin moved to the San Fernando Valley from the Inland Empire in 2011 to complete his BA of Communications degree at California State University, Northridge. Just a few months after getting his degree he moved to Valencia and started as an intern at AM-1220 KHTS, and was promoted to Sports Reporter within a year. Though Justin is still relatively new to the Santa Clarita Valley, he is an avid sports fan and passionate about building the sports department at KHTS into a special source for local high school sports.
