New Year, Same Pain — January 16, 2019

On this episode of The Grief Recovery Hour with Sharon Brubaker, Brittany Brubaker, Sharon’s daughter, joins the show to talk about dealing with the same pain in a new year. Brittany talks about her experience with losing Austin, and how it impacted her. Losing Austin had an effect on everyone in the Brubaker family, and Brittany shares the story from her perspective. Sharon talks about how people resist, react and avoid the pain and emotion people feel in their lives instead of dealing with that emotion head on. Even if that means crying and sobbing, it is all about releasing the pain from our bodies in a way that helps us feel better and move ahead. Emotions are more often suppressed than they are released, especially as we get older, and Sharon provides great advice on how to let those emotions out in a healthy that helps you feel better. Going into a new year doesn’t automatically mean that our pain will disappear, and Sharon can help you move past the pain you feel by releasing the emotion that may be held inside.

Listen in as Sharon and Brittany Brubaker talk about addressing the new year and same pain we may feel so that we can truly move forward and leave that pain behind.

More about Sharon Brubaker:

“As soon as I completed The Grief Recovery Method ®, I knew that my lifelong mission would be to learn everything I could about grief, and make it my life’s work to help others heal from their broken hearts.

I am not only a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist—I am a griever. I teach in my program that grief is a normal and natural reaction to a loss of any kind. Yet, we were never taught how to grieve. Sadly, most of the information we are given immediately following a loss from family or friends is incorrect. It does little or nothing to help us feel better or to begin the healing process. So, we continue to search and search.” Read More…
