Santa Clarita Gazette Radio Hour –May 8, 2015

Another terrific time on The Gazette Radio Hour with Doug and John!  Doug and John talked the debt in this country.  The debt is growing by leaps and bounds – Doug and John elaborated on Doug’s article that was in the Gazette this week.   Doug and John talked about what to do about the debt and should the US Government change its thinking to avoid impending financial disaster.

Santa Clarita resident Maria Gutziet stopped by to talk about an exciting announcement –she’s running for Congress!  Maria Gutziet, who is running on the Democratic ticket and currently working as an engineer, expressed her desire to become a voice for the Santa Clarita community.  She wants to represent the middle class, and identifies with their struggle to ensure for the stability of their families and their kids’ future.  Find out more about Maria by visiting her website at MariaforCongress.com.

Alan Ferdman, Friend of the Gazette (FOG), discussed the predominant but little-discussed view in town that locations like Valencia and Saugus are seen as superior to places like Canyon Country in Newhall.  Ferdman talked about district voting as a solution, where the city would get divided into districts of equal population, which would each have a seat at City Council.

Mr. Happy Hour was also a welcome presence on this show.   He had an idea to make a great listing of places to go have a drink in Santa Clarita on a budget.  He has a website (www.scvhappyhour.com), as well as a Facebook page, that feature a comprehensive listing of bars, hours, as well as food and drink served, and developing in the future.  Brilliantly, Doug asked Mr. Happy Hour what the definition is of a good happy hour.  Mr. Happy Hour said that Larsen’s, Salt Creek, and Olive Terrace were great, with good food and great drinks.  He ranks the happy hour scene in Santa Clarita an 8!
