On this episode of The Senior Hour, Hosts Barbara Cochran & Dr. Thomas Polucki talk with Director of Cancer Program Dr. May Lin Tao and Patrick Moody both of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital about November as Lung Cancer Awareness Month. As with most illnesses, early prevention is vital and a regular visit to your doctor can help greatly.

Lung cancer screenings are very common for both current and former smokers to diagnose and therefore treat a possible cancer. Many times, a patient may not have symptoms and an early screening is helpful. To bring awareness, Tower Imaging at Henry Mayo is hosting an open house offering low dose CT scans on Saturday, November 11th from 9am-2pm. Additionally, Wednesday, November 15th is the final Girl Talk event of 2023. During this event, participants have the opportunity to hear from and ask questions of medical professionals, this month specifically focused on lung health. During the second half of the show, your hosts welcome Rose Upshaw of Preferred Glass and Windows. With the cooler months arriving, you may notice a draft in your home. Addressing outdated windows can help with that draft, saving you money on your HVAC bills.

Additionally, Preferred Glass and Windows can help you have your home holiday and guest ready by updating anything glass or mirror. A local business since 1969, Preferred Glass and Windows helps both homeowners and businesses alike. For the month of November, they are offering a dual special for Santa Clarita Seniors. You can receive $100 off protective coating on showers and 15 percent off window installation. Call 661-255-1170 or go to preferredglassandwindows.net for more information.
