Hosts: Barbara Cochran & Dr. Thomas Polucki
Guests: Patsy Ayala, Cardon Ellis
On today’s The Senior Hour, your hosts Barbara and Dr. Polucki welcome Patsy Ayala, Vice Chair of the Planning Commission of the City of Santa Clarita. Patsy talks about several plans for the city of Santa Clarita including a new project from Calgrove to Lyons proposed to include a Senior Living Facility as well as commercial buildings such as restaurants. Newhall Avenue has a minor use permit to include a McDonald’s as well as an industrial area and a Chick-Fil-A on Soledad Canyon. There are plans to combine the two Via Princessa roads between Golden Valley and Circle J Ranch. Additionally, the city is working closely with the new owner or the Valencia Mall to develop a live, work play environment. Patsy says there are many opportunities for the public to attend planning committee meetings to comment on upcoming projects. Go to the City of Santa Clarita Government page on Facebook for more information.
In the second half of the show, Barbara and Dr. Polucki welcome Cardon Ellis of Unipest. Cardon talks with the hosts about Sand Bees which look like a combination of a bee and a wasp. Sand Bees are currently populating the area, and are very active for a short time out of the year. They seek out moisture and warmth in decorative stone on top of sand. Cardon says these insects burrow themselves in the spaces in between the stones. Unipest is here to help with many pests including termites, bees, bed bugs and bird barriers. They use an eco-friendly approach and will service both residential and commercial properties. Call Unipest at 661-284-7575 or 661-BUG-7575. Go to Unipest.com
