The Senior Hour – SCV Senior Center And Comfort Keepers – January 18, 2023

On this episode of The Senior Hour, hosts Barbara Cochran and Dr. Thomas Polucki welcome in special guests Kevin MacDonald from the SCV Senior Center at Bella Vita and Myles McNamara from Comfort Keepers!

Barbara and Dr. Polucki open the show by chatting with Kevin. Kevin discusses the many free services that the SCV Senior Center offers to the community including fitness classes and meals on wheels. Not only are these services free, but they can be accessed by homebound seniors with online Zoom classes in addition to meals on wheels which provides meals to seniors that are delivered by volunteers. Kevin also mentions that the Senior Center was able to raise over $100,000 through their annual appeal campaign and the announcement of their Celebrity Waiters event which will be hosted in April.

Later, Myles joins the show to discuss the benefits that a caretaker from Comfort Keepers offers to seniors in Santa Clarita. Not only are caretakers able to help seniors complete their daily tasks, but they also offer them a companion to clients. Additionally, Myles details how caretakers can help keep seniors active by cooking meals with seniors and taking them to doctors appointments in an effort to ensure that family members are fully informed of their seniors well-being.
