On this episode of Politics & The Pulpit, our host Pastor Jerry Cook from Freedoms Way Baptist Church discusses the vote in the senate to codify gay marriage into federal law and later speaks with Bob and Jane Keller from In Pursuit Ministries California.
Pastor Cook opens the show by discussing the Respect For Marriage act which which was voted on and approved by the senate including 12 republican representatives. It passed with a vote of 61 to 36 with all no votes coming from republicans. What concerns Pastor Cook. The Defense of Marriage law voted into law by Bill Clinton in 1996 will ultimately be dead Pastor Cook states. He goes on to discuss that it could lead away from the true meaning of marriage changing the guidelines and definition of marriage that could lead to disastrous results.
“Where is this going to lead societally? What is society going to look like 30 or 40 years from now?” Pastor Cook said. “I feel bad for your kids, and grand kids, and great grand kids that are going to have to face a society that is being shaped now with the help of republicans.
Later, Pastor Cook is joined by Bob and Jane Keller the founders of In Pursuit Ministries. In Pursuit Ministries was started by Chaplain Bob Keller and his wife Jane which serves law enforcement agencies by providing them with ministry services before, during, and after the law enforcement careers.
