Pablo Garcia-Hernandez, Maria Arteaga, and Leslie Blake of Youth Speak Collective join our Afternoon Drive program to highlight their latest educational initiative fundraiser.
YSC created the First Step College Tour to help youth in the San Fernando Valley decide which higher education institution to choose. The program is designed to expose high school juniors to California’s four systems of higher education. This gives our students the ability to draw a clear line between the state, public and private universities’ approach to higher education. This program was created to help Youth Speak! Collective create a stronger academic foundation in the community and expand the college opportunities available to under-served youth. Youth and staff will be visiting 6 universities in California. Youth Speak! Collective will cover the cost of the hotel for 3 nights (continental breakfast included), 1 meal a day and transportation to and from all of the universities.
