Mission Valley Bank To Host Free Employment Law Webinar

Santa Clarita business owners are invited to a complementary livestream event as part of Mission Valley Bank’s 2021 Quarterly Business Education Series, featuring a local attorney and Employment and Labor Law expert.

Keynote speaker Brian Koegle of Poole Shaffery & Koegle, LLP, is set to provide insight on multiple business topics, including an update on California wages and hour laws, along with best practices to avoid claims, according to Mission Valley Bank officials.
Employment Law Q1 Update includes:

  • An update on COVID-19 in the workplace – including leaves, furloughs and telework arrangements
  • The latest changes in independent contractor classification
  • A wage and hour law update with best practices to avoid claims
  • New leave laws, including expanded leave for smaller employers (5+ employees)
  • New mandated reporting requirements
  • Preview of new laws for 2021

“2020 created unique challenges for businesses of all sizes with furloughs, employee leave of absences, remote employees and more,” reads a statement issued by Mission Valley.

The free online event is set to take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 18. Registration is required.

“If you are a business owner or manager, you are aware of the changes and shifts in workplaces but are you aware of the new employment laws? With new laws for 2021, now is the time to gain an understanding of how it impacts your business,” the statement reads.
