In the aftermath of the latest winter storm from last weekend, the City of Santa Clarita has its first assessment of the damage from flooding, totalling nearly $1.3 million….

The estimate includes damage to public property, including parks, trails, and roads, as well as the cost for emergency services during and after the storms.

During the state of emergency which was declared on Saturday, January 8, four residences were destroyed, 11 sustained major damage and 25 had minor damage.  A total of 104 residences in the City were affected by the storm.

The Polynesian Mobile Home Park was evacuated on Sunday after the Newhall Creek overflowed.

The City’s Ken Pulskamp says that we can deal with roads and structures that were damaged.  Luckily, “Santa Clarita had no loss of life and that is the most important way to come out of a disaster.”
