Five schools in the Newhall School District will be celebrating their California Distinguished School status in upcoming days.  Staff, students, and school board members will participate in the ceremonies. Teams of principal, teachers and parents recently attended the statewide Distinguished School celebration in Anaheim where they received their plaques and a special Distinguished School flag. They were greeted by Jack O’Connell, State superintendent of schools.

Of the five NSD schools, this is the first time Pico Canyon and Old Orchard have been recognized as Distinguished Schools.  Valencia Valley, Peachland, and Wiley Canyon have been designated with this honor multiple times since the inception of the program in 1984.
