When KHTS contacted L.A. County Fire at just before 1:00pm, L.A. Fire was just getting on the scene.  The fire is at the I-5 and Highway 14 split, just South of Weldon, on the east side of the Old Road.  As of 2:00pm 35 acres had burned. 

 

As of 3:15pm L.A. County Fire reported 35% containment.  Six helicopters are on scene, three from L.A. County, three from L.A. Ciuty and one helitanker.  L.A. City Fire and a striker team from L.A. Forestry are assisting L.A. County Fire.  Inspector Jason Hurd from L.A. County Fire said that he expected the fire to be under control "real soon". 

No structures are in the immediate area, but the fire is directly under power lines.

 

A SIG alert has been posted for The Old Road; all lanes are closed from Calgrove to Sierra Highway until 3:15pm.  There is stop and go traffic on the I-5.
