‘Haunted Highway’ Drive-Thru Experience To Take Place Of Haunted Jailhouse

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station annual haunted jailhouse has been replaced with a “Haunted Highway” drive-thru event that adheres to safety requirements.

The City of Santa Clarita is partnering with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in to host a “Haunted Highway ” drive-thru experience and scarecrow contest.

The event is expected to take place on Oct. 29 to Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex. The experience lasts an estimated 15 minutes. Guests are required to stay in their vehicles at all times, as well as wear face coverings if they choose to roll down their window.

“Each vehicle will also receive a single to-go bag filled with Halloween candy, crafts and more at the conclusion of their journey,” stated a press release from the City.

Tickets for the “Haunted Highway” are sold out due to the requirement to “reduce crowding in accordance with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health orders and guidelines,” however, the City is looking for participants in the “Scarecrow Alley” contest.

Participants will be able to create a scarecrow that will be displayed at the Haunted Highway event and judged in various categories.

Categories include family, nonprofit and business and prizes are set to be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category. Gift cards will be awarded in the family/individual and nonprofit categories and businesses will receive a plaque.

There is no entry fee to participate in the contest and it is open to all ages, individuals, families, clubs, nonprofits and businesses.
