Metrolink Line North Of Santa Clarita Closed Due To ‘Unforeseen’ Track Maintenance

Unforeseen track maintenance affected the Antelope Valley Metrolink Line north of Santa Clarita for an unknown duration on Thursday evening, officials said.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. Thursday, the Metrolink track department identified a misalignment of the tracks, between the Vincent Grade/Acton and Via Princessa stations, according to Scott Johnson, a spokesperson for MetroLink.

“Due to the extreme heat, our trains cannot safely pass through the area between Via Princessa and Acton,” Johnson said. “As a result, four trains are being affected.”

Alternate buses have been provided for passengers traveling further north, making all stops into Lancaster, according to MetroLink officials.

“Crews are set to work throughout the night to correct the issue and are expected to be back in operation tomorrow morning,” Johnson said.

As a result of the misalignment, the Metrolink is expected to abide by a “slow order” that will allow travelers to reach their destination at a slower rate, but the tracks should be less impacted by the high temperatures.
