The hydrant crash happened at the intersection of Haskell Canyon Rd and Copper Hill Drive around 9 p.m.

The collision sent a silver Chevy Cruze onto the west sidewalk of Haskell Canyon Road where it sheared a fire hydrant. The car came to a stop under the gushing waterspout and the yellow hydrant was found laying in the street beside the car.

Captain Clint of the L.A. County Fire Department confirmed the silver Chevy Cruze was almost completely invisible under the waterfall.

Firefighters rescued the adult male driver of that car from the wreckage and waterspout. He was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of a Kia SUV was examined at the scene and refused treatment.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies did not arrest either driver.
