The KHTS Washington DC trip has a few spaces remaining to join a group of over 50 community leaders for three days of meetings, group tours of the White House, Pentagon and Capitol and a chance to explore our nation’s Capital from a very unique perspective.

Congressman Steve Knight and his staff are partnering with KHTS AM-1220 in organizing the KHTS Santa Clarita advocacy trip to Washington DC on Sept. 19, 2016, through Sept. 22, 2016.
“It’s a companion piece to our annual Sacramento trip we take every March in partnership with our State Assemblyman Scott Wilk,” said KHTS co-owner Carl Goldman.
“What makes this trip so unique is it brings a very diverse representation of Santa Clarita to Washington to advocate for issues impacting the valley,” said Congressman Steve Knight. “I know of no other community that has such a broad cross-section of representation, focused on improving a wide range of issues instead of focusing on one special interest. My staff is arranging meetings with key officials on a variety of topics including education, transportation, Cemex, water and funding for ‘at-risk population’ programs.”
The group includes Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar, administrators and board members from our K-12 school districts and College of the Canyons, leadership from the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Valley Industrial Association and the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation, The Castaic Lake Water Agency, Henry Mayo Hospital and a number of Santa Clarita’s other key non-profit organizations. It’s a strong cross section of our Valley.
“What’s so cool about this trip,” exclaimed Carl Goldman, “is we don’t limit our group to community leaders. We invite others to join us so they can see the process, network and share their experiences when they return to Santa Clarita. Over the years, we’ve had well over one thousand Santa Clarita residents travel with us to either Washington DC or Sacramento.”
The trip will feature a special dinner on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016. Previous Washington, D.C. and Sacramento dinners have featured Sen. John McCain and Gov. Jerry Brown as the keynote speaker.
“I attended the KHTS trip many times when I represented Santa Clarita in Sacramento,” Knight said. “My staff and I are excited to play host to this year’s KHTS Washington DC trip.”
Many attendees are bringing their families and wrapping it around one or two weekends.
“Myrna and I traveled on the last KHTS Washington DC trip several years ago, reminisced 2005 Santa Clarita Man of the Year Gary Condie. “It was the first time we had ever been to Washington and what a way to see it. We’ve done a lot of traveling over the years and that trip was one of the most memorable and exciting.”

Dear Perry;
I would like to join the Washington D.C. journey but I very much suspect that Mr. Knight will be choosing an overwhelming number of Republicans to accompany him in order to secure donations for his re-election campaign.
I am not a Republican — just a constituent but would like to join the trip if that’s possible. I’d like a follow-up piece to find out the nature of his trip and who is funding it; those who are going or his office (translation: taxpayers). I would like answers to these questions.
Sincerely,
Pamela L. Miller
