The fire was out by 4:05 p.m., according to fire officials.

The fire was initially spotted on a hillside between the area of Plum Canyon Elementary School and David March Park, near Santa Catarina Road and Franks Way, said supervising fire dispatcher Cheryl Sims.

The fire was contained at a half-acre at 3:13 p.m., Sims said.

Structures were threatened based on the brush fire’s proximity to homes next to the hillside.

“Our first deputies on scene saw the fire and requested units for evacuations as a precaution,” said Sgt. Maurisi of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, shortly after the blaze broke out Friday. “I would imagine we’re done with any evacuations.”

The incident was called #FranksFire on social media.

The cause has yet to be determined, officials said.
