A California Credit Union bank robbery might have followed a similar method as others in recent months, but detectives speculated Friday it might be a different bandit.

Detectives have seen but not yet released surveillance footage from the latest robbery attempt, which, like several others, took place around closing time Thursday at the Valencia credit union.
However, the suspect, whose description has not yet officially released, did not match the man who robbed at least five banks, three in Santa Clarita and another two in Ventura County, according to the latest tally.
Both suspects are described as older white males, and they used similar methods, according to Detective Berry of the Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Bureau.
“But that’s a popular method, the note job thing, is the more popular way (for bank robbers), Berry said Friday. “It sounded like him, but it doesn’t look like him, we’re not 100 percent it’s the same guy.”
Law enforcement officials — the case is currently being investigated by the FBI and Sheriff’s Department — noted a PT Cruiser was mentioned in several robberies, but apparently was not seen in Thursday’s incident.
However, security footage is still being scrutinized by detectives, officials said.
Thursday’s suspect was also apparently wearing a Hawaiian shirt during the robbery, which led to an older white male in a Hawaiian shirt driving a PT Cruiser to be pulled over at Sierra Highway and Via Princessa on Thursday after the robbery. That person was quickly eliminated as a suspect based on IDs.
This is the fourth bank robbery in Santa Clarita since June. The Wells Fargo location on Lyons Avenue was the first recent incident, which took place June 12. Then about two weeks later, the Chase bank location on Lyons Avenue was robbed, followed by the Logix location in Valencia.
