Deputies arrested two individuals Tuesday after they allegedly stole thousands of dollars of merchandise from a Canyon Country Home Depot in February, officials said.
On Feb. 2, 2019, there was a shoplifting that occurred at a home improvement store on the 20600 block of Golden Triangle Road, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Merchandise exceeding $1,000 was allegedly stolen from the business,” she said.
On Tuesday, store employees saw two individuals in the store who matched the description of the alleged February shoplifters, according to officials.
“Responding deputies detained the suspects and they were identified as being the suspects involved in the February 2 incident,” Miller said.
No merchandise was stolen Tuesday; however, Sheriff’s officials believe that it was their intent to steal additional items.
Deputies arrested Elmer Rivera, 32, of Los Angeles, and Allan Mendez, 25, of Bell Gardens, on charges of felony grand theft.
The alleged shoplifters were transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station with bail set at $20,000 for both individuals, according to arrest records.
