The school will be the only school offering open enrollment, which means that it will accept students who live outside their boundaries, according to William S. Hart Union High School District officials.
Hagman is set to go to every junior high in Santa Clarita to tell families that Castaic High School is now an option open to them.
“Families looking for options should consider going to one of these meetings to learn about what Castaic High has to offer,” said Dave Caldwell, a spokesperson for the Hart District.
Hagman will hold the gatherings specifically for families with students in 8th grade, as Castaic High will only be open to 9th graders in the fall of 2019.
The meetings are scheduled to be held on:
- Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. at Rancho Pico Junior High School
- Thursday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. at Arroyo Seco Junior High School
- Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Placerita Junior High School
- Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. at Castaic Middle School
- Thursday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at Sierra Vista Junior High School
If a student attends a different school than the scheduled meeting location, their families are still welcome to attend the meeting, according to school administrators.
Castaic High School is expected to hold a variety of programs on campus, including iCAN (Canyons Academy North), where students will be able to learn from college professors while enrolled in college classes at the high school.
The campus will also house athletic fields, a performing arts center and buildings designed for Career Technical Education, amongst other programs.
The open enrollment application is set to be available this Friday on the district website.
