The Castaic Animal Shelter has released a final plea for the adoption of three dogs before they will have to be euthanized.
The three dogs listed in the shelter’s Facebook post have been at the shelter since December and are now out of time, according to the shelter. A final plea was released 72 hours ahead of their scheduled euthanization date.
As a result of the post, a 6 year old pitbull mix named Toby was adopted Monday.
The three dogs that are in desperate need of adoption are a 5 year old bearded Collie mix named Beckett, 4 year old German Shepard named Cedric and 2 year old Pitbull mix Jester.
Beckett
Beckett is listed as a 5 year old Bearded Collie. He is pure fun and plays with lots of energy. He is also super handsome! Beckett needs an active family who is committed to helping him be the best dog he can be. He will reward you with a lifetime of love and devotion. Based on shelter evaluation, he does well with other calm dogs.
Cedric
Cedric is a 4 year old German Shepherd patiently waiting for his new family! He’s a big boy, weighing in at 90 lbs, and has the most gorgeous hazel eyes! Walks fairly well on leash, sits on command and waits patiently for treats. Seems to have a mellow disposition. Based on shelter assessment, he does well with other calm dogs.
Jester
Jester is a 2 year old Pitbull/lab mix who came into Castaic Animal Care Center as a stray. He has the warmest brown eyes that match his sweet personality. He is fun, funny, playful and affectionate. Will play with a ball for hours. Loves treats and takes them gently. Looking for a home with kids high school age and up where he can be the only dog. He’s a strong boy who will thrive in a family with a dog savvy leader. With proper training he will be the best he can be and make someone very happy!
The shelter is open to the public daily from 2 to 5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 2 to 7 p.m. Morning appointments can be scheduled throughout the shelter as well.

I thought this was a “no kill shelter”. I wish I was younger and not disabled, I would take at least one in a minute. My dogs saved my life after my husband passed away. This makes me so sad.
Is this the same shelter who told a local “man” to dump a cat in a different neighborhood… a cat that been coming to their house for over a year for food and shelter ??
You’ve been there so many years in Castaic why don’t you make it a no kill shelter you’ve got plenty a room it’s about time you stop killing these animals and make it a no kill getting ridiculous. Do you only want to hold him 72 hours and then you want to kill him How could you even look at yourself in the mirror maybe God I’ll say to you well Jay, you know you’ve been in heaven for a day and a half you know what we’re just gonna give you a shot and send you to hell for killing all those animals oh my animals I’ve I’ve adopted from the pounds But I am 80 years old and I can’t take on another dog. I have one dog left but if I was younger, I would take them in a heartbeat but I can’t so try hanging onto them. There’s somebody out there that needs those dogs give them a chance stop trying to kill him all the time , it’s too easy to for you to kill them then to feed them. If you need food, send me a message I’ll be up there tomorrow and I’ll bring you a bag of food but don’t kill him.
This truly breaks my heart💔 I’m beyond disbelief on why so
Many shelters are just killing dogs and cats by the thousands, not hundreds, but thousands. I try and help others that are about to take their dogs into the shelter and find homes before that happens. They have souls, they feel and understand us and this world. We do NOT deserve them AT all. They are too good for us to be allowed in their lives. I have two German shepherd girls, whom I love beyond words. They are so special. When I think about all of their people getting killed in this way in makes me sick. I’ll keep doing what I can to help, even if it’s one at a time. I’ll send money for food as well, message me. Praying for all these souls to not die only knowing what it was like to live in kennels their last days.
Don’t kill the kids and they will find home and make room for the other dog.need to keep their instill they find home not to kill them.want if some one kill you not going to be happy about it.you just kill the puppy and baby and other just to make room for other
Need to put in jail for that.the dog saves safes people when they I. Trouble
Please seek out a no kill shelter or a foster situation. These dogs have good dispositions – do not penalize them. Kindness is harder and sometimes takes longer but is so worth it. Please amend your policy.
