Officers with the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office issued 18 citations to drivers on San Francisquito Canyon Road Thursday, including three motorists who were driving over 100 mph.
“Bouquet Canyon, Soledad, Placerita, San Francisquito, we try to keep them guessing and keep them safe. It’s just what we do,” said CHP Newhall Officer Eric Priessman.
During the commute hours early Thursday morning, two Newhall CHP officers wrote 18 citations for a variety of violations, including crossing over double yellow lines, according to officials.
“We periodically go from canyon to canyon trying to keep up traffic enforcement, because we get a lot of commuters coming through those areas,” added Priessman.

Although CHP officers are always on the roads in the Santa Clarita Valley, officers will also periodically set up special traffic enforcement operations, according to CHP officials.
“You keep driving recklessly, we’ll keep coming back,” said CHP officials.

only citations for over 100 mph?!! Should be classified as a as felony and driver’s license should be at least suspended. So ridiculous, these individuals put everyone in danger. I hope I never encounter them.
Wouldn’t driving over 100 miles per hour be considered reckless driving and require an arrest and suspension of their drivers license and impound their vehicle. Not much difference than drunk driving.
