Deputies arrested a father and son Tuesday morning for being in possession of loaded firearms while searching for an armed Castaic robber, officials said.
Around 2:30 a.m., Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies were searching for an armed robbery suspect on Castaic Road in Castaic when they came across a suspicious vehicle, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.
“When deputies were searching for the armed suspect, they saw a suspicious vehicle in front of a convenience store on Castaic Road and saw the passenger put something under his seat,” Miller said.

When deputies made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, they found that both the driver and passenger were felons. The passenger, who placed a loaded firearm under his seat, was a minor, she said.
When deputies searched the vehicle, they located another loaded firearm.
Deputies arrested Bob Arias, 44, of Bakersfield, and his 17-year-old son, whose identity has not been released because of his age, for being felons in possession of loaded firearms.
Although the father and son duo were arrested, they were not the suspects deputies were looking for in response to the robbery, according to officials.
The two were transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, and were both charged with felonies.
Bail for Arias was set at $50,000, according to arrest records.
