Firefighters stopped a yard fire in Canyon Country from destroying a nearby home Saturday morning after a propane tank in the yard exploded.

The fire was called in shortly before 12:30 p.m. at the 29000 Block of Blake Way, and first responders were on scene minutes later, after being diverted from an apartment fire on Jakes Way that had been put out shortly before.

The fire threatened one structure, a home backing up against the yard, but firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading into the house.

While no injuries were reported in the incident, KHTS reporters and witnesses at the scene reported significant damage to the side of the home.

Several personal items inside the house were also damaged in the blast.

Witnesses said the fire was knocked down within 20 minutes of firefighters arriving.
