Non-profit Santa Clarita Grocery received a donation of non-perishable food from local business owners this week.
Mapuana Mergel donated over several dozen pounds of nonperishable foods, gathered through a partnership with the Santa Clarita Coalition and doTERRA Wellness Lifestyle, to Santa Clarita Grocery, all of which is set to go to local families in need.
Merger noted that she appreciated the hands-on, professional approach that SC Grocery takes toward serving the community.
“People are desperate when they use these resources, they wouldn’t go if they didn’t need help and there’s nothing wrong with needing help,” Mergel said. “SC Grocery is so professional and clean the way they handle everything and treat the people who go there.”
As a small business owner, Mergel noted that being able to contribute to her Santa Clarita community and help make it a better and safer place to live and raise a family.
“My goal in business is to help people see their full potential as a society, especially as we’re coming out into the post-pandemic and help each other reclaim our health and continue to thrive,” Mergel said.
SC Grocery Director Bradley Grose thanked Mergel for her contribution, and pointed out that it is through community support from local residents and businesses that SC Grocery, an entirely volunteer-run organization, is able to continue supporting Santa Clarita Valley families in need.
“There’s nothing more powerful than the heart of a volunteer, it’s very touching to me that they would want to team up with us and volunteer,” Grose said.
