Chris Parry, 35, of Oak View, served the Santa Clarita Valley as a field training officer for American Medical Response (AMR) Station No. 202 on Bouquet Canyon Road, according to a news release provided by Los Angeles County Fire Department officials, who worked closely with Parry.
He leaves behind a wife and two children.
“He was a really awesome guy and so genuine, said Cody Anderson,” an EMT who was Parry’s partner for approximately seven months. “He had the most amazing and contagious smile and laugh. He was a devoted husband and great father and he really loved the work that he did.”
“He was a training officer for new employees and he absolutely loved taking on the new guys and showing them the ropes,” he added.
Although Parry spent a career saving lives, the injuries he sustained from the crash were too major for him to be revived.
The driver of a vehicle hit the back of Parry’s scooter east of the Los Angeles/Ventura County line, ultimately ejecting him from the vehicle.
Megan Hayes, who describes herself a friend of Parry, created the the GoFundMe Page to aid his family.
“Chris was just one of the good guys,” said Dave Ellis, an AMR supervisor. “We just want to help support his young family as much as we can while they are trying to manage losing their dad and husband.”
