Hart alumnus and current L.A. Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow returned to his old high school last Tuesday to meet with the Indians’ baseball team before the start of their season.
Glasnow graduated from Hart as a star right-handed pitcher in 2011 and went on to commit to the University of Portland to continue his baseball career there.
In the fifth round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft, Glasnow was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He later played for the Tampa Bay Rays and recently signed with the Dodgers in December.
According to FOX 11 News, Glasnow is visiting Hart after he promised his old coach, Jim Ozella, that he would come in to speak with the baseball team.
Glasnow’s passion for the sport began at Hart under Ozella’s guidance, he told Fox.
“I really realized I wanted to do this as a profession and then I realized like I had to work harder than everyone else, and I think that started at Hart for sure,” he told FOX 11 News.
Glasnow now stands before his current Hart successors as a renowned Major League Baseball player, ready to answer their every question.
Though their practice was canceled due to the rain, the boys were radiating with energy nonetheless.
Their excitement only heightened when it came time to take pictures with Glasnow or get their caps signed by him.
Just as he did in 2011, Glasnow once again reminds Santa Clarita of his legacy and ignites a flame of motivation in the Indians’ baseball program.
