The humanitarian relief organization, aimed to alleviate the suffering of children and their families, requires financial support to continue their operation, according to Michael Santomauro, director of the nonprofit.

“We rely solely on community donations and grants,” said Santomauro. “Anything will help us continue assisting families in the Santa Clarita Valley.”

Since the organization was created in the summer of 2002, Help The Children has benefited more than 48,000 people in the valley, added Santomauro.

The nonprofit distributes food to a number of SCV outreaches, such as churches, senior citizen facilities, battered women shelters, recovery programs, and other service providers enrolled as recipients of our food program.

“Help The Children has been extremely beneficial to our community,” said Jeri Seratti-Goldman, KHTS co-owner. “The organization is vital for helping families in the valley.”

Last year alone, Help the Children received over 500,000 pounds of food to distribute throughout SCV. Open your heart and know that together we’re making a difference, according to their website.

There are donation boxes set up throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, including at the KHTS station located at 24320 Main St in Newhall.

HTC also sends teams of doctors and dentists to help rescue the impoverished boys and girls of the world from physical suffering. They provided new quality medical equipment to these underserved hospitals and clinics including the Help the Children Hospital in Guatemala.

The Santa Clarita nonprofit also assists military personnel overseas, in addition to disasters at home and abroad.

“We are touching the lives of 10,000 families with our resources each year,” said Santomauro. “We can only do that with your help — the average cost is $11 per family per year.”
