The Ride for a Cure event includes a two-hour spin bike class that not only offers health benefits, but an opportunity to participate in a good cause, according to officials.
“When I discovered that several regular attendees of my spin classes went in for routine screenings at the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center and received early diagnoses of breast cancer, I was inspired to do more to help the center fight this disease,” said Janet Cheveres, the event organizer.

In addition to participating in the class, participants will have the opportunity to take part in raffles, a free dinner, dessert, water and music from DJ Mark Anthony, according to event organizers.
The event is set to be held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Friday, Oct. 12 at 4:30 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Athletic Club located at 24640 Wiley Canyon Road in Newhall.
The participation fee is $30 and all proceeds will be donated to the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center to help provide early detection for underserved men and women, according to officials.
Riders also have the option to obtain “sponsors” to pledge donations for their participation in the event.
